i talked to the mechanic that rebuilt my engine and he told me that cause my car is straight piped that my check engine light is on. is this true??? can i just get two new o2 sensors and replace them without putting on a cat?? i think my o2 sensors are fried.

Did you scan for codes yet? If the o2 sensors are bad, they will throw either a 33 (front sensor) or 77 (rear sensor). They could be what is turning the light on, expecially if you think they are fried. I'd check codes and go from there.

Do you have a converter? If you don't then yeah, that is probably what is keeping the light on. I would think that without a cat the rear sensor would be throwing codes.

ABsolutley true.

I dont see why you dont have a cat on there in the first place, its not like you lose any power from just one cat, dude.Take some responsibility and care for the environment a little bit.

well when i got the car it was already straight piped. well there are actually 2 cats on my car, the first is right after the exhaust manifold and theres another in the mid section of the car. the first one is still there but they took the second cat off. is the ecu located by the passenger side on a s14?? cause i seen a thing that looks like an ecu under the steering wheel.
