When we first bought the car three weeks ago, we drove off the dealer lot at midnight only to find the A/C didn't work. We pulled over and I found by squeezing one of the refrigerant lines there was no refrigerant in the system! So she took it back the next day, they apologized and had no clue as to how that could have even happened. The car had been PDI's two months previous but the system had never been filled from the factory. They checked for leaks and it was OK, filled it, and it's been OK ever since. But it still left us with a bad taste as we traded in an '01 Altima with 92,000 miles that had never been in the shop a day in it's life. Sh*t happens and everything else on the Versa has been flawless so we're good.

So, this week my wife calls me and says that the check engine light is on. She made an appointment at the dealer and they saw her the next day. Guess what the problem was?

ID10-T error. (idiot)

The one time we put gas in it in THREE WEEKS, I hadn't tightened the gas cap tight enough and it set a code for gas tank not being sealed!!!

Dealer said to try to hear the lid click five or six times when putting the cap back on.

Seriously, that's what the error code says?

This happened to me and my then two-week old Versa. On my first fill up, I tightened the cap to click two to three times. After about a day, I get a steady Service Engine Soon light on the dash. I checked the manual and it says to re-tighten the cap, or have the car's emissions systems checked at the dealer. As a process of elimination, I did the easiest one first by re-tightening the cap (5 to 6 clicks) and the light disappeared after I drove the car the next day on the highway. It didn't go away quickly from regular city driving though, so I thought that getting it up to 55mph (as if resetting the emissions systems for inspection) would do the trick...and it did.
