OK so my car has never ever had the engine light come on. All i did was recently installed a K&N Drop in filter, and a A'pexi muffler. I only welded the muffler to the stock tubing. After a day. the light turned on.

I got to the ECU in the kick panel, but am having a hell of a time trying to remove the ecu to get to the LED light. How do I remove it?

Nothing is wrong with the car, as far as I can tell. no weird noises, the belts feel firm enough.

any suggestions will help. oh and i searched, and I dun know wtf I am reading. and how much is it for techs at nissan to check fix the light? thanks!

It has been my experience that the ECU for s13's (not sure about s14's) has 3 screws that need to be removed in order to flip the ECU around to read the LED lights. On my car, there was a screw above the ECU, one below, and one on the side farthest from you if you were sitting in the car facing forward. The screw that is above is hard to see, and even harder to reach. There may even be a fourth screw, but I only remember having to remove 3 to get that box to move.

It was a real pain actually, its much easier to use an analyzer, so if any of your friends happen to have one that works with 95+ nissans, I'd give them a call.

no need to remove it, when I instaleld my catback my ECU came on, you only need to unplug your battery for 12~ hrs and the replug it, it should be fine. so unplug your battery leave it overnight and see if that helps befoer you worry about taking the ecu off.

that's what I did at first too.. unplug for coupla hrs but it doesn't work... so I jsut left it overnight, as far as actual how long it takes, I've no idea, 12~ is jsut an estimate since it seems like a good night's sleep (for a lazy personl ike me) lol.

instead of waiting 12 hours...why not press on the brake pedal to remove the residual voltage from the lines....
