I've reset my check engine light several times and it comes back on within 100 miles of driving. The touble code I get is 0304 for the knock sensor. From what I've read, a bad knock sensor should not trip the CEL. But there is no other codes when the light trips. Any suggestions?

Welcome to NICO!

You are correct, the knock sensor should not trigger the CEL. I would fix the knock sensor and see if it comes back.

changed knock sensor and cleared cel codes. after about 100 miles the cel comes back on. Checked the codes and it reads that there is nothing wrong. Reset the codes and again after 100 miles the cel comes back on but says there is nothing wrong. Any thoughts?

Have you checked continuity on the wire for the knock sensor? Just a thought.

Are you using a reader to check you codes or the car to tell you the codes? I'd be interested to see if you get different results from both.

i had some1 check my ,96 130t with an expensive snap-on obdII scanner, it had 5 codes, all 3 o2's, IAT sensor, and knock sensor. my friend had a small cheap scanner, the only codes it gave were knock sensor and IAT...i replaced the knock sensor and cleaned the IAT and no more light
