My check engine light was comming on while driving at highway speeds and at lower speeds. I was able to get a knock sensor code I am going to replace the harness the sensor are new. My injector was sticking open and it was dumping gas into the cylinder and the vacuum from the engine was pulling it back into the manifold and the engine was hard to start. I should be getting the injector today I will post what happens after I am done.

I got the plenum back on today I started it up and it runs good but it is still smoking really bad I hope that it is just the fuel and some coolant that spilled down into the cylinders. i may have mixed up one of the coolant lines with a vacuum hose. I will have to take the throttle body back off to check.

If you had an injector stuck open, the extra gasolene may have washed all the oil from the piston rings causing them to loose their seal.

I would take a look at the oil to check its viscosity and level.

Actually its rare for a G50 (1990-1996) Q45 injector to be stuck open. Its far more likely a injector o-ring didn't do its job.

The cylinder was full of gas, and when I pulled the injector out more went in. Also some of the gas went back into the plenum and the breater hoses. The injector was sticking open when I pulled it out the pintle looked like it was out to far so I put my vacuum pump on it and it would not hold vacuum I put power and ground to it and it was not clicking. I checked the next day and it was working normally. I replaced the injector and it came with new seals. The oil level is ok I am going to change it any way because i am shure gas got in it, I will use a synthetic oil this time instead. I will see how it goes.

So I went to the shop today and pressure tested the cooling system and it held over 20PSI for a while. I let the car run until it got up to operating temp and it was not smoking. I took it out for a ride and it was running good and then it started to smoke when I steped on the gas. Then it was hard to start but it did not run rough. The oil level is a little high. I am thinking that the gas got into the oil and when the engine gets hot it may be thinning out the oil so much that it is sucking it through the breather and causing it to smoke. I am going to change the oil and filter and put in a thick oil and see if that helps.

Unless you still have a leaky injector lower o-ring, I think these symptoms are because of the thinned oil. Don't drive until you've changed the oil and filter. It should be fine after that.

I changed the oil and filter today put in 20W50 the other oil was thin. I drove the car and it smoked a little at first and then stoped, so I think that is ok. But I got back from the bank and shut the car off and let it sit for a while I wnt to restart it and it cranked for a while and it started up and ran rough I revved it up a few times and then it started to run good still no smoke. I drove it and it did the same thing. I can't figure tis one out, and I fix Jags and other Foreign cars.

The check engine light came back on agai and it is flasing a code 21 this has to be the most anoying car I have ever owned and I have only put about 200 miles on it.

If I read the codes right, it is an intake valve timing error. Just think how hard it would be to troubleshoot that without codes.

I've been fortunate with the '02 I bought in January - knock on wood - no problems yet. Once youget it sorted out, I think you will be pleased. Stick with it.
