Check Engine Light/Neutral Park Switch Problem

My check engine light is on, and the ECU gives a "neutral Park Switch" problem. First the good ole morons at my local dealer denied the parts existance, saying that a manual 95 240 doesnt have that, but ala, my mechanic was right,,and they ordered it. Problem is they gave me a part which has a different connector. Mine is gray and has a slight difference than their black one. Would anyone know what's going on? I already did a search and gathered no prolific results. Help me out peeps....much appreciated
