check engine light = knock sensor code help

just yesterday my knock sensor code went off i cleared it. i reall havent noticed any difference in my car what is a knock sensor for should i worry?

i might be wrong but it has something to do with telling the TCM or ECU maybe when to shift ? or works with it or something.

the knock sensor adjusts ignition timing to avoid knocking, pinging and detonation. if you're using fuel lower than premium grade that might be the reason for it going out. a lot of times the ks code will pop up when your o2 sensors take a dump, which doesn't mean the ks is bad. was that the only code you had?

yea that was the only code i kno what you mean with the O2 sensor cause i replace them it awhile back cause it also threw bank one to lean. this was only knock sensor since i reset the code the check engine light hasnt come onquestion i used premium fuel for 2 fill ups just to clean out my valves and stufff then switched back could that be the reason

yep, premium is recommended for a reason. using it from time to time doesn't clean anything off.
