I just went to Midas b/c my check engine light came on after I bought my '95 240SX SE. They replaced the o2 sensor and some other things. Then it was off for like a day or two and came back on, what the hell is wrong??? Also how do I know if I have ABS or not w/o braking hard to check? The guy said it did, but now iono cuz I don't see and ABS light when I put the key in the ON position. Any help would be great, THX

LOL at 240SXGTRGUY

I'm sure his Civic ran great when the a/fs were around 12:1 and the giant 1" hole in the manifold started to burn exhaust valves. Plus taking the 02 sensor out will not solve any problems.

Anyways, check for codes on you ECU. It's a possibility they could have just cleared your codes with an OBDII checker, and it took two days to reproduce it'self. If you pull a front 02 sensor error then take it back and tell them that the problem was not fixed. Tell them to hand you the old sensor they removed. The sensor should be a single wire since your a 95. The 96 has 3 wires.

in addition to what nismo freak said, try to find out the actual error code number from them, it will make it easier to pinpoint

if they cant fix it, the error code will at least give us a fague idea of whats going on so we can help you.

Theres no way 240sxgtrguy was serious....I HOPE he was joking.

I can't believe someone said that. This is the kidn of things that goes unpunished by booting or banning for a certain period of time. "GTR" guy should be a clue that this guy is definetly a ricer, not to mention he said that something his friend did to his civic was a good idea. How you could leave a 1 inch hole in your exhaust and think it's fine is beyond me. You can find how to retrieve the code in the FAQ.

I am having the same problem with my 1996 240sx. It is a 96' model but it was built 11/95 per the sticker on the door jamb. I am getting it checked soon. I read somewhere that the 95's had problems with bad 02 sensors but if you had your replaced and nothing happend then I dunno whats going on. Let me know if you find out anything else.

02 sensors are common reasons for the check engine light to come on in any car. you can't just ignore it either. the air/fuel ratio will keep rising until it floods your engine.

Well, I got my engine checked and the couldn't figure out what it was. In addition to a seemingly bad o2 sensor the computer says I am having problems with my egr valve... I am rather confounded. The guy at the shop said he lubed the valve and then he cleared the codes from the computer. He told me to come back soon after 80 or so miles. He told me he could inspect it after the ecu re-booted and before the codes show up again. A sly but effective trick... Anyways, the engine light came on again around 120miles. Any more ideas?
