A few weeks ago (3 weeks), on my way back from the movies with a friend, my check engine light came on. I guess my car didn't like the occupant. My G has a mind of its own---seems to like some guests in my car and it seems to distrust others.

Anyway, i drove gently for a while but I noticed it had no effect on performance. so, i went ahead and flogged the heck out of the car. The car performed marvellously. The next morning I took the car to the dealership. They checked the code and concluded that an evaporation purge control valve, which is linked to the EGR valve in some ways, was acting out. They cleared the CEL and was told to return in a few days to replace the part under warranty. My car ran perfectly after i left the shop, and was wonderign why they needed to replace anything at all. MY CEL never came on again. But, since the part was ordered under warranty, I had to drive back to get the part replaced.

I was thoroughly pleased with my g-35 as i concluded that it will take a catastrophic failure for the G to quit moving. I sleep well at night knowing my pretty G puts a smile on my face everyday.

I would have to assume the dealer has run across this before. There may have been a bad batch of these valves so the factory told the dealer to just replace them the first time a customer reports the problem.

I know my engine has the rings that caused the oil consumption issue. You lucked out with the new engine. Mine is using just under 1/2 qt after 2k miles and I'm ok with that. By the time I go 3k to 3.5k miles it is barely 1 qt low & I just change it.

Hey Jacko, what exhaust system are you currently running??? My SES light appeared minutes after leaving the shop for my Greddy EVO2 install...

They cleared the codes the following Monday, and they still come on once in a while, but not often anymore.

Which code did it have? I'd bet it was too rich or too lean.

Funny. I have had no issues since my Greddy EVO2 install. Although, I did have to remove and relocate the evap canister.

Haven't had a chance to check email for 2 days now. I was on a road trip for work yesterday. 4 hours each way, sunshine, sunroof open, gas was paid for, and was in the company car. That was the only downside. It's a Mazda6 station wagon. That car is a disgrace to automobiles worldwide. It has so much torque steer that it makes an older Maxima look like it has none. It also has more body roll than Rosanne Barr. What a terrible POS. But the drive was awesome! Nothing like 600 miles of sunshine, good music and crusing down the freeway and getting paid for it.

I'll check my email tonight!
