Check engine light cycling from 1 to 5 1990 240sx

I read the codes from the computer last week.

Now a week later the engine light blinks--once, twice, 3x,4x,5x and then repeats over and over while I'm driving.

I put the screw position on the computer back to where it was before I turned it.

There are words "low" and "high" where the screw is.I have the screw slot pointing toward "low"

My book, "Import code reader" by Equus says to put it back in the position where I found it.

However, another book just says to turn all the way one way and then the other.

So I'm not sure where to leave it now.I have removed the negative cable and am waiting 24 hours to reconnect.

Is the screw position wrong?
