Driving home today my CEL came on so I pulled the ECU when I got home to find it throwing me these codes:

code 32 - EGR Malfunction(California Model)

code 34 - Knock Sensor

Now I believe my timing chain is rattling but it doesn't sound like the engine is knocking at all. Would a chain rattle cause engine code 34 to pop up? I dd this car so it seems like I'll be able to keep driving it daily as these codes seem relatively benign. I plan to replace the knock sensor. As for the EGR malfunction I haven't noticed the car idling poorly although the rpms drop very low about a second after I start the car and then level off.

Does anyone have input that will help me remedy these codes? It seems as though I just have a few sensors to replace

for the knock sensor code you have to replace it and check harness for damage..the egr is mechanical function it works whit a solenoid managed by ecucheck vacum lines atached to it and or it is jamed, you can push it up whithyour finger tip to check is moving also check it with engine runnig you need to acelerate and release it fast fron engine bay with one hand and with you other hand you can feel the movement in your finger tip fron the bottom of the egr valveif doesnt move you must check the control solenoid..the function of the egr valve is monitored by oxigen sensor and maybe you need to check it...

check the hose from the exhaust back pressure transducer (bpt) to the egr. its usually gets ruptured
