Check Engine Light = Code 31 (E.C.C.S.)

Hey,I drive a 1990 240sx with ka24e. The check engine light has been coming on lately. It used to be off and on, would usually only come on at speeds above 55 MPH and go back off when I slowed down, and I thought it was becuase of an injector leak, but I have fixed that and now it is always on. I put the ECU in self -diagnostic mode and got code 31 which I'm told means "E.C.U.(E.C.C.S.)", but I have no idea what that means is wrong. What should I check for? I did reset the ECU, but it still comes on. Let me know, thanks.

it means the ecm is bad. simple diag. are you sure it was a code 31?

my 90 240sx has the same prob. the owner siad that he'll check it out for me because i bought the car last week. how do you do all the stuff that is posted above?

So my ECU itself is bad? The car seems to be running fine, so that doesn't make much sense to me. So the only thing I can do is get a different ECU? What would have caused this? I checked the code twice to make sure. Maybe I'll try it again now that I've reset...

double check, then might wanna look around to see if you can find a new ECU. I have one for the SOHC ECU from an 89 auto if you need it.

I'll check it again tomorrow. Auto and 5 spd have different ECUs right? I have a 5 spd. I guess I'll look around for a new ECU.
