When you start your enine (cold), the computer runs preprogrammed parameters for air/fuel mixture called "open loop". Once it warms up, It runs "closed loop", or uses the cars sensors. IE- MAF, O2, ECT, etc. If you just installed a MAF I would check there. If it's reading the wrong air charge, it'll give the wrong fuel charge hence -rich mixture.
