hi,

I have a 94 Q45 that for about 4-5 months the engine light has been on. I finally found some time and after searching the SEARCH figured out how to read codes. However I didn't see any lights flashing on the ECU. When I removed the carpet there's a screw there which I followed the instructions I got from tech help (turning clockwise and counter clockwise). My question is, is that the diagnostice screw or does the entire ECU has to come out. Plus the instructions reference to using a screwdriver in turning the diagnostic screw, the screw that I'm talking about you have to use a socket wrench. Please help as to this issue.

SECOND question, my locks are acting up and I followed the instructions as to the location of the module for resoldering of any disconnected wires(under the armrest) however it's not located there. Can anyone tell me where it is located for the 94 Q45?

thanks guys

You have to take the ECU all the way out... Its on the very front of the ECU, its a small plastic screw that you turn..... Its right next to a red LED.. youll need to take the 2 screws out that are on the top and bottom and then pull the ECU out. best if you remove the plastic trim below the glovebox...

Only takes 10-20 mins to do the entire process (remove ECU, check codes, put ECU back)

4-5 months? Did ya think it was for Christmas or something?

Get an FSM and the TSB. There is no hope without it. It is the Genesis of G50 knowledge.

FSM = Factory Service ManualTSB = Technical Service Bulletins. These are procedures issued by the factory to fix issues that arise after the car has been produced.

Could you describe what your locks are doing?

I can't open the door locks with the remote. When I press it once the driver door tries to open but the knob doesn't go all the way for the door to open and pressed twice which should open all doors, I hear them open but close right back.Based on this problem and my search of the site, I know there's a door lock module somewhere which I was going to find and check the connections (soldier if necessary) but it wasn't located under the arm rest. I believe it is under the steering wheel somewhere but haven't had the chance to go there yet.Anything else I should know?

thanks Wes

The later G50 used a different setup than the earlier ones.. There is no "door lock timer".. The later G50 used a LAN system, with control modules in the doors that controlled each door..

Chances are i bet the mechanism is binding.. if its trying to unlock thats probably the cause... I would pull the door panel and see what its doing... Sounds more mechanical than electrical to me.

G50 is the chassis designation for all 90-96 Q45s.
