I'm sure it's something simple... Any one know what it's most likely to be?

We never reconnected the ground strap onto the cat con heat shield, but I don't think that'll throw a code.

Pull the codes out of the ECU and check them against the diagnostics pages of the manual.

Searched on EGR, looks like a good cleaning of it is in order...

I remember we had a hell of a time hooking the EGR tube to the header, but that shouldn't have caused a problem.

The symptoms are there - Light stumble at throttle tip-in....

As far as the knock sensor, I have no clue where ot start.

And now the damn thing won't start..... Grrrrr.

Dynamic pressure differences can cause a fluctuation in EGR performance which will throw EGR codes. I had this on my car as well.

My knock sensor also detected knock when none was present. It's possible that the added noise resonation in the header was causing the piezo unit to detect knock.

Nah, it ran fine all day Saturday with the new cap/rotor...

I can't even get it to start now.

egr was prob not functioning fully due to lower backpressure. the bpt(back pressure transducer) needs backpressure to let the vacuum to the egr valve. if you took the egr valve apart and cleaned it, then it might work ok with the lower backpressure. that or you could block it off and stick a resistor in the egr temp sensor connector so the ecm thinks the egr still works:D

the ignition prob should be on the primary side of the coil. it prob wont be an issue with plugs, wires, cap, or rotor(i could be wrong). the primary side would be things like dist(internal spinny things), power transistor, ecm, or coil. you said you fixed it so i will shut up. what was it?

Actually, I don't really know.

I was pulling codes from the ECU when all of a sudden it stopped throwing the code (?) and went blank. I disconnected the batt and let it sit, hooked it up the next day, ran the codes (there were none) and she fired right up...

Weird.

Still have a light stumble at throttle tip-in that's annoying... Any ideas?

For some reason.. 240s throw that 34 knock sensor code everytime there is anything else wrong with the car. However in reality you dont even have to change the sensor.

Whenever my check engine light was on (speed sensor, O2 sensor, IAC valve AAC all at different times) knock sensor came on. However when no problems were detected by the ECU knock sensor wasnt there.... so who knows...

So only thing that was wrong with your car was the EGR probably and somehow it got fixed by it self lol and now the knock sensor is gone too.

Glad you got it fixed tho

Yep - Strange stuff.

I should probably pull the EGR and try to clean it up. It's damn hard to get to!

yeah, its a pain for sure. stumble on tip in...they all do that they do really; is yours worse than the average 240 in that respect?

The EGR is proberly not opening enough cause you to have the stumble. May be cause there isn't enough backpressure anymore and the EGR works of back pressure. Just don't be doing any emissions test with it like that or you will fail for NOx levels. If you do have to do emissions you can run stright vaccum on the EGR and it will work but you car will have less balls.

Good question - I've only driven 3 other NA S13's and they were all junk.

Perhaps it's time to remove my gutted cat and install a high-flow one.

I think he said something about he is able to make a header for 240s however the cost will be the same as other aftermarket headers... so I dont think he'll be making them.

No plans to compete with HotShot - Their product is nice, and I couldn't do it for less money.
