Ive been having a problem with my 1990 240sx. Sometimes when iam cruising around my Check Engine Light turns on and a few Seconds Later my car Jerks back and starts slowing down. I keep steping on the gas pedal and doesnt want to give then a few seconds later it goes back to normal. It feels like the engine shuts down and turns back on. This mainly happens when iam on the freeway. I was wondering if its my Mas Air Flow Sensor going bad or its the Fuel Filter i need to Replace?

Any Suggestions?

I drive the same car and in 2002 I was on my way to Lincoln Nebraska by way of I-80 out of Iowa. The car shuts itself down to a low speed and the ingine light came on. Well to make a very slow drive short, I pulled into Omaho at noon on a saturday and found a mechanic still at work at a Nissan dealership. (boy what's the odds of that?) Nice guy because here is what he did for free. He took the handle of a screwdriver and tapped on the air sensor. You know the thing to the left of the air filter. And the car still is going today on that adjustment. If you've ever had this appart you will see two little wires that sense the air flow. Well they will collect dirt also and when they do they tell the computer that something is wrong and the computer takes over and only allows the car to be driven at a speed that will not damage the engine. I picked up an extra one in a junk yard just incase, when I got back to Minnesota, and it's been livin in the back seat ever since.

Good Luck

I Checked the Air sensor and some of the wires that conect to it where a bit worn out. I just starpped some Electric tape and it seems this solved the problem. thanks for mentioning the Air sensor.
