My "Check Engine Light" came on last evening. My mechanic advised it might be an emissions problem, for which he does not have the diagnostic equipment, because of the age of the car.

The book writes of this "ECU" box under the passenger dash. Is this worth the trouble?

Anyone have any ideas? how long can I drive on this until I can get it checked? (I know....) Also....

Anyone on the Monterey Peninsula (California) know of a good Nissan Mechanic??

Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you, TAS

it's OBD (On Board Diagnostics) I really don't remember the process but the manual tells you how to check for codes yoursef, and there is an little one wire plug under the drivers side dash thats supposed to get unplugged at about 80k miles as it turns on your check engine light just because of themilage, they suggest at that point you replace the O2 sensor and disconnect the plug, so how many miles are on your car? and if I recall correctly the ECU is under the passanger side kick panel and not that hard to access

*AZ-ZBum will likelyu pop in with some sort of direct link that solves your problem*
