Check Engine - Less than 3k? :-(

Ok my Versa, an 09 S 1.8 manual.. I'm driving along stop at a red light and notice the check engine light come on? I filled it up last, last week and am sure the cap is on right. I did notice that the idle seemed to be a bit off the last few days it would surge up then down a few times?

any ideas? I'll pull the code tomorrow see what they say but thought I'd check here as well!

Probably a bad oxygen sensor. Warranty item, take it back to a dealer for checkup.

Hope it's nothing too bad! it's a manual and i was quite rusty to get the hang of it again but.. i've driven really old junkers before without any issues. I'll pull the code then have to take it in.. another few hours waiting!

Check the gas cap. It has to click 3 times or the CEL will come on. Happened to me.

I stopped at an autozone and they pulled the code and said "gas cap" i always click it three times? I filled up and made sure it was on tight (that was yesterday) and the light is still on.. although I've only driven about 30 miles since then.

Ok check engine light is still on 70 miles later.. checked the cap again it's fine had them read the code again and it's saying theirs a leak e.g. gas cap still. Code was cleared and the light has stayed off for now.

I coulda swore the cap was tight.. but just incase it happens again when the cap is tightened and check engine is on how long does it normally take before the computer clears the code?
