Hey guys,

I'm usually around the Pathfinder forum, but my mom just picked up a 2008 Altima SL (2.5) .

Anyway, we have two sets of the smart keys but we know they will get lost. (past experience....)

So what is the cheapest way for another smart key/fob?

I called the dealership, and this is the breakdown

$15 key
$165 fob
$60 programming/cutting

total = $240

The smart key fob (whatever you call it) seems like the most expensive part, but I've seen cheap used ones on Ebay.

So has anyone bought a used fob and had the fob programmed?

Also is the dealership needed to program it or is there a DIY procedure?

I did some searching and didn't find anything, so help would be appreciated.

-Thanks

Chris

Get your key from the dealer, it's really the only way to get it reliably done. By a fob off ebay and we'll show you how to program it. We did one for my Frontier. Works perfect.
