not only that

but cheap engines = ****ty engines.

if you arent going to do it right, DONT DO IT. a 26 swap will realistically cost you $10,000. yes ten-thousand dollars.

Agreed.

"Cheap" and "RB26 swap" do NOT belong in the same universe.

On the other hand, I'll bet you Joe and Carl can guide you through an RB20 or RB25 swap for significantly less money.

Unless of course you live in Japan....lol.

JFWY Kamin, no hard feelings....he he.

He speaks the truth though, it's not a swap for budget minded persons. Hell, that $10k alone will only get you an RB26 installed with stock horsepower. You'd be better off getting a 20 or a 25 and using the cash to mod the snot of that motor and be over a stock GT-R motor. The mods that it takes to get it to fit the chassis alone are astonishing, plus getting custom downpipes fabbed up. When you start getting into the turbo stuff...double everything. I suggest you really research what you are wanting to get into before you get into a situation you may not be happy with.

move to japan and buy a gtr from a crack head there. thats about the only way you can get a cheap rb26, and itll already be installed! but since youll be in japan, itll be a domestic, and everyone knows that domestic is teh sucks. you are out of luck. sorry.

I tihnk people here are correct that cheap and rb26dett shouldn't go in the same sentence. Parts are crazy expensive as well as hard to come by. THe motor alone is expensive not including the over a thousand dollar rb25det transmission you would want to use. Trust me i know. I bought my engine and transmission through a good friend and reputable dealer and it wasn't cheap. Do your research, you should know that anymotor that is cheap is probably in bad condition. Don't buy from jazzpro, jdm customs, or osaka because all their engines come from Osaka. I've seen bad rb26detts come from them, whether it be oil sludge, blown motors, or bent turbo lines and missing parts. You pay to play

How cheap are they in Japan? I'm probably heading over there sometime next year on business... might have to move the 20 into the Z31 to make room

nobody ever said they havent

but most people rebuild them after they swap them in and rag on them for a while.

you bought a bum engine, and now are spending double the amount to rebuild it as you probably paid for the engine!

Wrong, I paid less for a motor I could have droped in, But that wasn't my plan!

You see I live in a place where it snows, Big motor + rwd = deathI made sure I was getting the best posible deal I could considering where I live and what I was willing to do. Sorry I'm not like you and spend a *** load of time putting in a 10 to 15 year old engine in that has a 50% chance of starting up in just to break it.

And your wrong again with spending double then others, as far as I see it I'm already 2000 dollars under what half the people that do this.

no offense and thanks for looking out for me and others but I fully and prepared for whatever I need to do.

motor tested good leakdown and compression.

you consider 20% leakdown good?

look man, all im saying is you started a thread saying "look at my new engine and swap!" and by the end of the thread you now have to fully rebuild the engine.

and sure your 2k under what everyone spends...NOW. just wait. its not assembled and has never been in the car.

somehow i dobut he got it that cheap. 3 years ago when i got my clip there was no demand for these engines. even if he did get his whole motorset/transmission for what the average person pays, it still costs a ton more to put it in because of the oilpan, sump, downpipes and mounts that are required.

and im happy if you can do it for cheaper than normal. most people cant. but we are using you as an example because 99.9% of the people who think about this swap dont realize the amount of money they have to spend to do it the right way.

if someone says "i want the cheapest rb26" and a rebuild is in order (like in your case) they are SCREWED and will never finish the project because its now doubled in price.

bill dont take it personally, im just trying to help people looking into this swap.

I can see your point, its people like audi who just make you shake your head Like I said, the only reason I ended up doing this swap is because up until the last couple of days before I got my motor I was focused on the rb25, then I realized that I just simply won't be over satisfied with the motor. So, I took the next step and realized I would be shelling out and lot more time and money, and I'm ok with that.

You have to remember I had 325 awhp Evo for little over a year so, I'm in no rush just to toss something together just to drive something fun. Besides I'm having enough fun with my stock s14

btw, I paid 3g's shipped
