i think the 01+ qx4's use the D2r bulb size or something like that. if its just the bulb then thats all you really need is the right size. I remember on my hunt for my hid KIT i kept stumbling across bulbs only...which cost around $60. its worth a shot on ebay, even if it goes in a few months...its another $60 instead of 290. And i believe the colour wont be different as its the ballast that sets the colour....dont mark my words though i may be wrong.

good luck and keep us updated

The salts in the bulb will produce the colour. And it changes over the life of the bulb, so 2 differently aged bulbs will have different colours even if they are the exact same.

Fact is if one of your bulbs actually stopped producing light, then they are both long gone. HID isn't dead when it burns out, it's dead long before that.. when it's actually only making about half the light it originally did.

Do yourself a favour and grab some proper bulbs, either philips or osram D2R bulbs. I know if you search the net you can find pairs for ~$100, but they're most often D2S for projectors, I'm sure somewhere will carry the D2R though.

You'll be amazed at how much brighter it will be.

I can provide you a pair if you wish, I also have a new OEM replacement one that I just took out(previous owner replaced one bulb when it burnt out but the passenger side has moisture contamination and was burning slightly green so i ended up replacing both)

email me if you want either, my s/n @yahoo.com

Man that sucks. Buy two though when you find them. . you don't want the color to be off.

I'll keep my eye out. . I found D2S. . ugh.
