Hey guys, low on money, HATE spoilers in general, love wingless cars; but my car shimmy's to ****. Any low-height spoilers that are fairly cheap that would look good on a dark green 92 hatchback? Any ideas definately appreciated!-Galen

just out of curiosity. . . at what speeds does your car "shimmy"? spoilers in general aren't worth much at normal cruising speeds and i almost guarantee that a cheap spoiler isn't going to do a thing at ANY speed. . .

a piece of wood angled and nailed to the back of my car would do a ****load. hehe. Ever put your hand out the window when your driving and move it around? When you tilt down you can feel the wind pushing down. So even FNF spoilers do something. hehe. But usually it does little shimmys at 60+mph. Mostly during very slight turns at that speed. Any ideas? Didnt mean to completely bag on you; just stating a fact, and its 3:40am, kinda tired. =)-Galen

to a certain extent. . . sure . . . your wooden spoiler would do something. . but it certainly wouldn't generate enough downforce at ~60mph to steady out a vehicle weighing in excess of 2700lbs unless the thing was freaking HUGE. . .

also. . there was a thread not long ago about spoilers and how they work less effectively through the turns because of the lowered affected surface area at an angle (something like that) but unfortunately i'm too lazy to look up the post. . . search for it if you like. . .

i think i'd suggest looking into your suspension for smoothing out your ride. . . make sure everything is in good working order before really trying to hunt down a spoiler

I had a shimmy and rotating my tires solved it. if that doesn't work get an alignment job.

Subaru's STi team made a spoiler for their rally car that has vertical slats which make it have the same downforce when going around turns, you definatly would not like the look of the spoiler tho just lending some info :)

i had a bad shimmy in my subaru and it was caused by a defective tire. inspect your sidewalls carefully!

my car was just re-aligned...it doesnt shimmy too much...its just the weight...I want to take turns faster and not naturally drift so much. I like forcing drifts and taking turns hard...hehe.-Galen

if you want to take turns faster, and want a wing that will help, you're gonna need a rediculously big-a$$ wing
