anybody running one of these cheap t28s ?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...36658

it would be amusing if it actually works out.Interesting thread on freshalloy.. most love their dirt cheap headers and have been runnin' em for some time with no issues.I think one member even feedbacks to them, so maybe a cheap CA header can happen too.dunno where I got that ebay link from... thought it was here

yea, I see them on ebay all the time. They seem to have pretty good feedback except for some headers they make. They don't have any recent negative feedback. I was going to get a turbo from them before I found mine. I may still get the divided extention from them.

some guy in Melbourne (florida) had one on his CA... one of Paul's friends. It was the blue CA on ebay last week...

He says they sent it with an 18 pound wastegate spring, and he was running it w/o a boost gauge, so he didn't notice the overboosting for about a week! I don't think he's all that car saavy;)

18psi musta felt good. Wierd wastegate spring. I wonder if he installed something wrong seeing as you can't turn that boost down any. Trouble if he didn't have the supporting mods. No boost gauge? didn't sound like he didU know if the turbo survived ?$355 not bad for a brand new t28

I only assume he didn't have a boost gauge, or else he would have seen 18 pounds and figured out what was wrong with it before driving for a week? He did have some bigger injectors (I think 550's but maybe skyline 444's?) and either an ecu burn, or s-afc to run them, so I don't know if he did any major engine damage as a result...

I don't know anything about the turbo though... neither he, nor paul mentioned it, and there was no specific reference to it in the auction other than it was an 18 pound wastegate spring.

In his auction he said it lost compression (down to 120 across the board) or something like that. It is obvious that he's selling it because something isn't working right. I can guarantee you that there was oil all in the engine bay which is a tell-tale sign that the ring lands were cracked (been there and done that too many times). That much boost on a T28 is still pushing and he or anyone should've known that the car just feels a little too happy and realize that it wasn't just the turbo that changed it's attitude as well. Oh well, schizz-nitt happens in the world of turbocharging.

They use an HKS style adjustable wastegate actuator and the guy just didn't turn it down. W/O a boost gauge he wouldn't have known to...

A heavier wastegate spring is pretty common amoung hybrid turbos like that. Most of Forced Performance's Big T-28s now come with a 17lbs spring. To not realize it and run the car until it damages the motor takes some skillz.

So what happened to the turbo? Is it really a crap? And how does specs look comparing to standart T28? Should it support more HP?

LOL! I'd like to send mine out that way too, but I don't have the fuel to support it right now. I need to tune for z32 mafs and 555cc injectors, but I refuse to use a SAFC. Jon and I are probabally going to use my car to make a chip. There is a dyno less than 10 min from here, so I'll prob take the car up there and drive it real nice till I get it on there with the wideband to see what it's doing.

Well I"m only replacing it with a T28, so it's not that much better.
