So . . . I'm driving down the street minding my business (alright, I was speeding; but still ^ ^) when some big ol' full-size fan busts a left in front of me. Can't swerve to the right 'cause there's a car there. Can't serve to the left 'cause there's oncoming traffic and the other half of the van is blocking the left-hand turn lane. So I lock up my brakes (wonder if the 300ZX brake conversion kit coulda saved me? I don't think so . . . because if you can lock up your brakes on your current system, a bigger system wouldn't give you any quicker stopping power, would it?) and slide into her. She somehow thought it was my fault; but someone that was driving behind me stopped and was my witness. After being told by the officer it was her fault, she was very nice to me. ^ ^

My hood is folded in half, the driver's side of my bumper is pushed down and folded into itself, the frame looks pretty distorted all over the place. She still runs, though ^ ^. I was doing some burnouts in her this morning even though the front driver's side tire is caught between both sides of the wheel well. I'm sure that I'll get a salvage title, though. Still waiting for the insurance guy to come out and take her away.

Anyways, out of the ashes of my wreckage, I wanted to see if anyone here can use anything from an '89 Coupe. I think that the insurance company will technically own her and want to sell her to a junkyard for as much as they can get. I'll be checking into this, however, and am going to ask how much the insurance company will let me keep my car for/sell her back to me for. If I can break even on selling off parts cheap to people, I will buy her back and get you guys some deals. If it's just something small like a turn signal blinker relay (anything the insurance wrecker guy won't miss when he comes to plunder) then I will just pull it off my car and send it to you for the price of shipping. My car has 170k miles on her so she's a bit worn.

Let me know what you need, big or small. If the bigs add up to whatever insurance wants for the car, I'll keep her.

i have never bought a car back from the insurance company, but then again, i have never had the chance (thank goodness) but from what i have seen of other close friends, i would do it in a heartbeat. a friend of mine had a wreck in his nice 1996 ranger...very good condition with 100k on the clicker....him being hit saved my life b/c i was right next to him on a motorcycle, and otherwise i would have been tagged in the side....anyway, he bought the running, driving truck back for $800.....with doing nothing he sold it the next week for 2000.....the guy who bought it had it fixed in a week and was selling it for 4000 i think....another friend got rear ended in his tricked out S10....they bought it back for 400.....still running and driveable....he pulled his stuff off of it, sold all that, made plenty o'money, then his dad put a new bed on it and had the bed painted.....bought some parts to put it back stock.....spent like 2000 doing that.....was selling it for 4ish i think...anyway, buy it back

Buy it back. Some dumb b**ch backed into my brothers 90 Integra, bashing the door and fender. He got a check for 2500, they said he could buy it back for 300. So he got 2300 bucks, we fixed it for about 400, and he got like 900 bucks, for free. Buy it back, strip every possible thing you can, you'll definitly make a little money, plus if you buy another one you'll have a parts car, a running parts car.

Yeah why did you title it that?

The RET H/L CONT is in the fuse box right behind the battery. Mine is grey in color but it might differ? The 3 RET H/L is in the relay box on the other side. It should be behind the intake box.

I say buy it back, I fix rebuildable for a hobby and you can easily make a lot of money. You should ask your insurance if they can keep the title clean, other wise you would have to go through that state highway patrol inspection before you can drive it again if it is claim to be salvage

That, and it will have that salvage title on it and will lose a lot of resale. The thing is, I'm pretty sure the frame is ****ed up. I thought if a frame was bent enough, it was illegal to drive it on the street again no matter what work was done to it.

As far as the headlight relays and other stuff, like I said, I'm pretty sure the insurance company is gonna wanna scrap it; but I'm still waiting for a final word.

Also, I called the title of this thread "Cheap Strawberry Face Conversion" because my pig-nose now has a flat-nose.

Get it? Get it? ahhhh . . . nevermind. :pface
