I finally have pictures of my cheap strut tower brace for my 1994 Q45

I have had it on for a few months.

The addition of this brace made a 900% improvement over the handling. When I bought the car it had the "soft" Michelin 15" tires, with the factory aluminum wheels. I bought a set of used 17" x 8" rims with the Continental Sport Contact 245-45-17 tires. The handling was better, but I dod not like the tires. I bought this brace, and the front-end felt like I put 60 psi in the tires, and dropped about 1000# of weight. Now I have Nitto 225-50-17 NT450 tires all the way around, and it drives great.

The next setp is new struts and tension rods. 145,000 miles is probably the limit.

Anyway, back to the strut tower brace. I bought one for my wife's 2000 I30 off of eBay for $17.00 plus $15.00 shipping, and decided to get 2. They sold me the second one with free shipping.

After about an hour of light modifications, It fit the Q!

If you look at the pictures, you can see I had to drill a new mounting hole, and shorten the ears the hime joint bolts to.

Let me know what you think.

I have 6 more pics, if you want to see some more, shoot me an email: [email protected] (this is a work email, so I will not respond after hours, or on the weekend)

That's really clever, but you didn't pay enough for it!

The install was fairly quick. I have pictures of the bar, unmolested, and installed in my wife's 2000 I30, and more pics of it modified, and installed in the 1994 Q. Send me your email addresses, and I will reply with the pics. I had a little trouble, and had to remove a bolt, or 2 before it "Fell" into place, but I do not recall loosing any blood, during the install.Jeff Williams jawilliams @trane.com

Strut bars mount well forward of the ABS gear.

Cool Mod.

Looks like it has more clearance near the manifold than the Stillen unit.

Good job!
