Alright everyone, I have decided that once I sell my Celica in 2 months I am going to get coilovers and swap in an SR. Being that I am on a strict budget of no more than 3.5k I have made a little list. Let me know if I am missing anything or if I should just buy a part used for cheaper. Keep in mind that I plan on only buying an engine and transmission, not a front clip.

Engine + transmission: 2000
CX Racing FMIC: 220
A/C Bracket: 110
ISIS Radiator Package (radiator, electric fans, hoses): 300
DW200 Fuel Pump: 100
ISIS Downpipe: 100
Spark plugs, Oil, Oil filter: 75
Gauge Pod: 35
Blox Boost Gauge: 50
Battery Relocation: 50
Florida 6.5% Sales Tax: 200
Install: (probably a few hundred, I am trying to find someone who is going to do most of it since I have a lack of tools and time needed for an engine swap)

Total: 3240+

Don't forget:

- clutch kit $300+
- BOV kit + piping $150+
- electric oil pressure gauge $65

$2000 for SR engine complete with trans seems about $500-$700 too low looking at current market prices, unless you have a deal in mind. Plus $250 shipping unless you are picking it up. If you buy from the lowest price place you are taking a huge risk - buy from a place with good reviews.

I used to charge $1500 labor for a full SR install with FMIC and fuel pump, wiring conversion etc etc etc. so you may be a bit low there too. BUT I would advise you to do it yourself - nothing like knowing where everything is when you need to fix something, upgrade something or do maintenance. You can rent an engine hoist for the weekend for $50, or you can buy one from Harbor Freight for around $90 - then sell it. The work is not that hard, really. Just a lot of details.

In my 15 years of doing SR swaps, the budget is almost always 50% more what you first think it will be. Plan on that and have the extra funds source lined up or you will be stuck waiting for cash to come in.

Good luck.

Everywhere I've seen the combo its been 2k. http://jdmorlandoinc.com/nissan-engines ... 20det.html
Thats just one example but if I buy it from there I can use a buddies F250 to go pick it up.

ISIS Hotpipe + Used HKS BOV = 200
Why the oil pressure gauge?

Thanks for your help as well :wavey:

Believe me get one. it will come in handy to monitor the pressure. It should come with some fittings. Take the stock one off on the oil sending unit, and put the one that comes with the gauge. Good luck. :)

Alright so I have been doing some more research and I think the Enjuku swap package is pretty enticing. It includes:
ISIS M-Spec Frount Mount Intercooler kit
Hotpipe w/ Flange
HKS BOV
ISIS Downpipe
SPEC Stage 1 Clutch
Walbro Fuel Pump
Cone Filter Kit
AutoMeter Boost Gauge
AutoMeter Single Gauge Pod
2 - ISIS Electric Fans
ISIS Aluminum Raditor
ISIS Silicone Radiator Hoses
Heater Hose
All for $1600

I already have the fuel pump so I was thinking of asking them to step up the clutch to a stage 2 and get an oil pressure gauge, which should add up to the same price as the fuel pump.

So far I have added up:
Enjuku Swap Kit: 1600
SR20 Engine + transmission: 2100
Fluids + Spark Plugs: 100
6.5% Sales Tax: 250
Total: 4050 w/o install

That 3500 I had planned definitely wont work anymore. No worries though I can keep saving. Anything else?

Add another 110 for that A/C bracket, which brings the total to 4160.

Looks more complete now - I do like swap packages. Definitely upgrade from Stage I clutch - good idea. SPEC is a good clutch too - we sold hundreds and had zero returns or warranty issues.

After much more research and forum reading I have made a much more complete list.

SR20 Engine + Transmission 2000
SPEC Stage 2 Clutch Kit 340
Nismo Motor and transmission Mounts 250
CX Racing Exhaust (or used catback) 230
CX Racing Intercooler 218
ISIS Radiator 200
A/C Bracket 110
ISIS Downpipe 100
Deka ETX-30L Smaller Battery 100
Stack Mechanical Boost Gauge 85
Stack Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge 80
OEM Water Pump 53
ISIS Radiator Hoses 50
Test Pipe 50
Heater Hose Conversion 45
1g DSM BOV 40
BOV Flange 20
Oil Sandwich Plate 30
Flywheel Resurface 30
Royal Purple 10w-40 35
Vent Gauge Pod 20
Nissan OEM Oil Filter 10
NGK BKR6E Spark Plugs x4 10
Misc Hoses + Fittings 50
Florida Tax 200

Brings the total to roughly 4500. Luckily, I have some stuff I can sell to reach this goal. Does this one look better? Thanks :inoutgay:

Oh, one more thing. My friends are going to help me install it and I have someone that is taking care of wiring so that cost will be minimal.

Looks good, just a few comments.

- NISMO mounts are good - Megan Racing mounts are tempting at a lower price but I hate mine. Too stiff for non-racing use (mad vibrations). I had no complaints with NISMO.

- Don't forget either electric fans or if you are using the mechanical fan you will need the OEM fan shroud (SR or cut up KA) to make it effective.

- Mechanical oil pressure gauges are not supposed to be run into the car interior. They are for engine bay only because if they leak you get hot oil spraying around your interior. Look for an electric oil pressure gauge. Autometer has so many styles and they are cheap, even though the $25 oil press senders tend to only last 2-3 years.

- Oil sandwich adapter - is this for the oil press gauge sender? 'Cause you can do it without this. I HATE oil coolers and oil filter relocations 'cause they seem to always leak - unless you are tracking the car they are probably more trouble than they are worth.

Good luck!

PS Good move on installing with friends. If you get stuck on something post here!
