I want to do front end conversion but I have 2 issues with that1. Money u_u2. I really don't want to give up the flip up headlights

I came up with a crazy solution, if keeping the headlight and making it look more like Silvia... no I am not high on glue...

My plan is to replace the bumper, do a minor mod on the fenders, mod the headlights housing, and fill in the gap between the hood and the bumper with custom made fiber-glass piece or black mesh it will do the job of a front grill. and yea this piece would have to cover the whole gap from fender to fender. The same place where Silvia would have Turn signals, Headlights, and grill.I don't expect perfect fitment but with some modding I believe it would work.

Let me know what you think, is it just crazy enough to work... or is it too crazy

I'll try to add some pictures to help illustrate my plan.

Here is where the bumper goes

Fender mod

Headlights mod

Really long and wide Grill (mesh)

And here how it's all going to fill in... more or less... gaps are to be expectedP.S. this is not my car on the pictures

Thanks for posting, I don't have Silvia bumper yet. But when I get one I'll be sure to update the thread. I have no idea how well is it going to fit and how much modding I would have to do. And I think I will also get some Side skirts to go with the bumper.

And... what's "pandapants"

personally i dont believe in the word cheap. if something is going to be done it should be done right, not "cheap". you need to decide what you want before you start tearing into it. if you dont want to lose the pop ups i would recommend the type x front conversion, looks great and fits like oem. dont cheap out man, you wont be happy

It would be a waste of time. Do it right. IMO headlights are the most expensive part anyway.

Yes, Type-X does look nice. But I am still going to with my original plan just to see what would happen. Also about being cheap, I really cheapped out on the car when I got 240sx and can't let the front end conversion be worth more then the car itself.

I have more ideas how to make it look nice on that parts that don't fit and how to fill in the gap between hood and bumper.

sorry, but cheap & 240 were made together. Now if this were a g35 or a z-car i would agree with you. but by getting a 240, you're already going cheap.

^ your sig is really gay.

Get ready for alot of fiberglass. With all the money you'll be spending on sandpaper you might as well buy OEM.

I am not trying to be an a**hole here but here is what I think. You are the frist who said go OEM or don't cheap out. Type-x look nice but there are a lot of Type-x or Type-x conversions out there. R32, S13.4, S13.5, Sil80 or Sil40 whatever, it has all been done before many times over. What I am doing has been done before, but it's a lot more rare and involves a fair bit of custom fitting and modding.

P.S. I don't have a sig

I personally think it will look bad just from the sound of it.

But At least its unusual, to each his own. Want to see how you are going to build it up. Can't quite picture the final look of it though.

Kinda s12ish i guess.
