So I took the car to the dealer today and when I got the car back, I noticed that my fan knob had a crack in it. I don't remember if it was there or not before but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. Either way, it's crappy quality control on Nissan's part (pun!) and I'm sure it's going to get worse. I've attached a couple of pics.

Is this something I can get the dealer/Nissan to replace or am I SOL? Anyone else having the same problem?

Man, I could think of a dozen hillarous things to say about knobs, but I'll pass on this one...

It looks like the trim ring around the knob had been pried off for some reason. I'd bring it back and see if they can't fix it.

Agreed. thats not from normal use, that had to be inflicted.

The versa has a very nice interior for its price, you should see the new fords, and dodge's there interior are really cheap now.

Hmm.. thanks for the feedback. I took it in for squealing brakes, an oil change and that passenger side air bag recall thing. When they called, they said they didn't have the parts for the recall yet.

Maybe they pried open the controls to look at the air bag light? My CD player is now a little busted (won't play some CDs) and my automatic key lock which was set to silent was reset, also. None these things sound like a result of a brake fix and oil change so maybe they futzed with my interior trying to figure out what to do with the recall thing. Arg.

And yes, the Versa has a nice interior. It was one the reasons I bought it over other alternatives. Was just pissed that my interior got damaged, I guess.

I would not say that is a cheap interior part. I would say that someone has tried to remove that knob or for some other reason, it has been damaged through another means.

Mine has 6000 miles, 8 months old and looks nothing like that. Looks brand new.

i HIGHLY doubt that anyone pulled on the knob. i have a very early model 07 SL and almost ALL the knobs look like that if not worse. even the A/C sliding switch trim is like that. only thing i can say is its a defect in manufacturing. my passenger airbag in the dash wont stay in place either. time to take it in to nissan! again....

Funny... I had a V built in June of '06, and its interior was flawless. No broken or damaged parts, no problems with the pass airbag (or pretensioner connector, for that matter).

What makes me scratch my head is the fact that it isn't the knob itself that's damaged, but the bezel itself... Speaking of cheap interior, have you driven a GM recently? You have to crank the stereo to drown out the creaking and rattling.

my car hasnt had its knobs or bezels pulled or pried on. like i said even my A/C slider looks the same if not worse. you can tell in his picture that the opposite side of the knob is about to crack too. the material is very thin on some knobs which is apparently a defect.

Seems to me it's "luck of the draw" with the quality of interior you receive. I'm one of the unlucky ones I guess. With 6,500 miles on my Versa SL I have the following defects:

- Rear Passenger door handle cover is coming off (I can snap it back on every couple of days)

- Bottom Left of the Radio unit cover coming off (again snap-on method fixes it for a few days)

- Gas cap release switch snapped off (going to the dealer for this one)

- Sunroof cover jiggles like crazy (the upgraded speakers help with this)

I've also noticed that every time I fold the rear seats down it rubs the sides of the car and leaves a mark. I've given up cleaning that after about six wipe-downs....

Somehow I still like the car even with all of it's annoyances!

That sucks! My interior console was destroyed when some douchebag kid went at it for my deck, so I feel your pain. 1 1/2 more weeks!

Yeah, after looking at it again, and from all the posts here, I'm reluctant to accuse the dealer of any wrongdoing. I'll take it in to get them replaced. Thanks again for the replies.
