I have started experimenting with the following -- using 87 octane gas (from a reputable brand) and adding an Octane Booster. So far, my results are promising.

I have tried both Prestone's 0 to 60 Boost and Penzoil's Outlaw. Outlaw is half the price and gives more of a boost. In fact, Outlaw feels much more responsive than starting with a Premium 92 octane.

Is anyone else experimenting with something?

Every single unbiased thing i have read about octane boosters is that they do NOT work. Your thread was probably the first time i have seen someone say it works besides the advertisements from the actual company who makes the OB. But still skeptical, hard to believe 1 vs some double digit number.

Yeah, I was skeptical too, so I started Googling. I found this link which claims to be a "real" octane test:

It seemed like it was worth a try.

I don't believe the hype about octane boosters besides you'd really only be promoting carbon build up in a low compression motor if they actually do work.

What is the price difference between premium and regular, 10cents/20 cents? If you pay more than $2.00 for the booster and the booster treats 20 gallons you would be better off just buying premium fuel (assuming your tanks is practically empty). Even at 20 cents more for a gallon of gas I think the premium is a better buy and less trouble.
