at least it's on plywood, and you can see it bowing under the weight of the motor...better than concrete!!!

First time I've seen one with the engine wiring harness to ECU intact.

Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe the bolck, heads and penum can be rehabilitated.

Like Dennis says, he should pay the "winner" a couple hundred to take it away.

I think I'll bid on it, then go up and get it. I could find a 94-96 Q with a blown motor for $500 and just chrow that engine in there and Wala, sell it for $3000.

What's wrong with letting them sit on the pan? I know it's not good to DROP the engine on the pan (or even drop it at all). I've never seen a tight oil pan deform from having the motor weight on it. If it's an aluminum pan, it's a good idea to set it on something soft like wood so it doesn't have as much of a chance to crack (still very minimal with careful handling). Looks like a good motor to me. I'd like a pic showing the inside of the oil fill of the valve cover to see if it's clean or sludged up from poor maintenance.

I agree. For someone to go through the painstaking process of removing the engine with wiring harness right up to the ECU says something. I don't think they would have bothered had it been junk. Compared to some I see on Ebay, I'd be more inclined to take a chance on this one. Notice that the seller is savvy to the chain guide issue.

Man, this thread title has to be one of the great oxymorons.
