Why is that, you have rubber washers/rubber o-rings for anything that is metal to metal so no squeaking, and an adjustable strut with the coilover i dont see why it would be second class handling

I dont know what you're talking about "coilovers WITH KYB AGX shocks...."

coilovers = one type of suspensionshocks/springs = another

you dont combine them man....

Aiight coilover kit comes with thread sleeves that go over the rear shock and front struts some grinding is involved for the sleeves to sit on the strut and shock, the front is a strut and the rear is a shock. I know that the coilovers and strut/spring are different and yes you do combine them on the front of your 240sx strut with coilover

If you want your car to look "hot" :rolleyes then there is nothing wrong with Ground Controls and AGXs, but don't expect anything great and the ride qual will be ****.

But I would only buy Ground Controls anything else is wrong :(

I have coilovers on my car now, thing is the struts/shocks are bad and I planned to put the agx's on as soon as I get them. I looked at the ground control coilovers and they are the just about the same as the cheap coilovers that I got off of ebay

Can someone please tell me whats wrong with the GC coilovers + AGX setup? I've heard good things about it, and it seems to be a pretty popular setup. Not to mention, its a lot cheaper than those $1500+ coilovers. So I reiterate: whats so bad about them?

nothing is bad about the ground control coil-over/sleeve system, they're well thought-out nice setups. he asked about the 'e-bay' cheap coilovers, IE aerospeed, etc.

It's those that are bad.-chet(for my money, i'd rather have a complete 'true' coilover system)

The thing about any suspension system is that it's the spring, more so than the shock that truly makes or breaks the ride quality. With Ground Controls, you can get any weight Eibach spring you want. And if you don't know what you want, they can figure it out for you.

With cheap-o eBay or where ever else, threaded sleave type coilovers, they rarely come with an extensive range of springs to choose from.

its not the same. you're talking about a 40mm 16 way adjustable(for example) alloy, full perch adjustable(IE, without affecting the stroke of the damper) true coilover, with dampening settings and stroke made for the spring rate and is probably rebuildable.

versus:

a sleeve that lets you adjust the lower spring perch, which may compress the stroke of the damper, and a damper that may, or may not, be ideally matched to the spring rate you pick, and is more than likely not rebuildable.

i'd say theres a signifigant difference.

also, the dampening is actually far more important to ride quality than you think. try riding in a car with 7kg/mm springs on soft (like 2 out of 16) you'd be suprised how easy it rides. set the damper to 15, and it becomes unbearable stiff....same spring rate.
