I had a few bucks in my PayPal account, so I thought I'd take a chance on this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWNX%3AIT

It comes with the freeware version of conZult, and I was curious if anyone has other software that I could get a copy of to fool around with. I would be grateful for any copies provided! PM me and I'll either PayPal you shipping costs or we can work something out.

It ought to be here in a couple weeks, and I'll let everyone know how it works out...

Do you have a serial port in your laptop? If not I think some of the problems with consult cables occur with the serial to USB adapter that you'll need. Is there a Consult to USB cable available to eliminate the one or two adapters you'll have to use?

For copies of consult software just Google each one and download it. Most are available for free.

youll need to spend $25 on a decent FTDI usb/serial adaptor if your laptop doesnt have rs232 port, if you dont like random reboots/bluescreens from your $1 special chinese usb/serial adaptor, but aside from that its OK, assuming yours works when it arrives (they dont test at manufacturer so have high failure rate). Get ECUTalk and OBD Scantech (both downloadable off ECUTalk consult cable page) and you should be set software wise. the rest that comes with the cable arent the best.

Hey Lokim any chance you can open up your your 14 pin Consult connector to see if all 14 pins actually work?

New Kleer does the ECU talk cable have 14 pins to support all the Control Units in case they use another pin on the connector?

Not sure if this is what you're looking for but my consult cable from Blazt has only 5 pins in the 14 available slots. All 4 slots are used in the rounded end of the connector and one slot is used on the opposite end.

That tells me that Blazt.biz and ECU Talk all use the same layout to make the connector found here: http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/images_ ... f_rev4.pdf

Thanks!

the other pins on the connector arent for the consult communications itself as far as i know - if there are other control units, they are also communicating on the TX/RX lines like the ECU from what I know.

you found any service manual showing the purpose of other pins?

The 1993 Q45 Service Manual shows that the Throttle Control Module (TCM) has a wire running from it (Pin 16) to one of the other two pins of the Consult connector that are not used by your cable. Do you have any idea what those pins are used for?

The 1994 Q45 Service Manual shows the TCM uses the standard Clock, TX and RX pins on the Consult Connector.

I hope the 1991-1993 Q45 TCM's are capable of connecting to the Nissan Consult.

no idea, does it say what the pins are or label them, on the TCM or the wire going to the consult connector?

Nope thats what sucks about the Service Manual. The only part of the Service Manual that labels what each wire does is the Active Suspension part. The 1993 Q45 Service Manual says the single wire that runs from the TCM is colored Yellow with a Purple stripe. Now I hope Nissan kept the same wire colors (Somewhat) for the Consult connector. If so that Yellow color would correspond to the Transmitt (TX) part of the Consult Connector.

Actually Paul, I lost it. I never even got the chance to try it out. I've just been using my old Snap-On scanner (MTG2500) and it's been working fine.
