In this article we will be installing a DIY cold air intake housing. This may be a temporary fix or a semi-long term solution to your short ram intake drawing in hot air.

Skill Level 1 of 5

Time Required <1 Hr.

Tools and Supplies

-Installed short ram intake

-Suitable piece of plastic (in this article we are using an old sun visor)

-Foil tape

Instructions

1. Buy and install Short Ram intake.

2. Remove front and rear weather stripping from hood and that underhood insulation.

3. Go buy a Sun Visor for your front windshield from a discount auto store.

4. Cut it in half and then put it in and trace where you need to cut it. Note:Also cut a hole for the intake pipe.

5. You can either bolt the cover to the MAF adapter or just use the rubber tube to hold it like I did.

6. Close hood and insure a tight fit between hood and silver visor material. It is satisfactory for the visor to be slightly taller than the hood so it's a tight fit like I did.Editors Note:I would not recommend exceeding 1/2" above minimum hood clearance to retain sealing ability.
