I need to replace the brake pads on my Integra I just want something cheap, quiet, and capable of stopping the car. SHould I be looking at semi-mettalic or organic pads? The ceramic pads seem the most expensive, so I'll ignore those.

I know theres a lot of discussion on performance brake pads, and I have looked at brands like Axxis and Hawk before, but what should I look for in a cheap brake pad? Any el-cheapo brands I should avoid?

Dont know if this link works, but this is AutoZone's selection of pads...http://www.autozone.com/servle...Front

Thanks!

Grab some Raybestos and be done with it. No need to spend more for a DD.

I'll second that... standard brake pads at parts stores are just fine. Even the cheapest pads still have to meet general safety standards. I sell tons of cheap, standard pads to customers at work and almost never get complaints about them. Are premium pads better? Yes. Are standard pads crappy? No... Feel free to make your own decision

+1 for Raybestos. Autozone is REALLY crappy. I'm replacing them with Hawk HPS, I needed to use the Autozone pads for a week......and they have NO soppign power. Duralast...they'll last, but they don't grab anything.

^ I bought the cheapest Duralast pads from AutoZone haha. I think Pep Boys sells Raybestos, but AutoZone is right around the corner. I'm gonna install the Duralast pads and see how I like em, as stopping power and performance arent priorites...

Thanks guys!

For DD, you might need three or four hard stops. Cheap pads are fine for that. Where they'll not work out is under repeated hard braking, or high heat input as in coming down a steep mountain.Non-metallics will have a better first-stop feel; metallics want some heat put into them to start working best and the first try might be a little unsettling if you aren't ready for it. They're also more susceptible to water sensitivity if you have open-spoked wheels that let water get onto the disc surface.

I forgot to mention how bad they feel when heated up. Even with a little spirited driving, it feels like it takes longer and longer to stop....not to mention the HUGE collection of brake dust on my front wheels from these pads alone.

If brake dust is an issue - move up to a ceramic based pad - they have very little if any brake dust

Well, I paid $13 for the Duralast pads, so if theyre as bad as you say, I'll make the drive to Pep Boys...

I got PBR ultimate ceramic pads for my 300zx brake swap $36 CAD for the set of fronts. I haven't tried them out yet though because I haven't gotten a chance to rebuild the calipers yet
