hey guys, has anyone seen the new issue of SportCompact mags? they have an article on their ongoing silvia project car, its looking nice. they painted it flat black. they mentioned that the paint is from a spray can. not sure if thy're serious, but just out of curiousity --- is that possible? let me know what u guys think 'bout they're silvia.

it looks bad-***! i'm a subscriber to SCC, so when i got their Aprl or May issue (after just buying my car in March!) i was ecstatic!

i wouldn't do it to my car though, like to paint my car gun-metal with a clear coat. mwahahahhahahahah

too bad it's tighty-whitey now with scratches on the body and rust on the fenderwell, ugh!:(

Yes you can use black primer out of a spray can. The reason they probably have it that color is because they intend on painting it later. Most people that drive around with those spray can jobs are getting paintjobs in the near future, whether its maaco or some better job im not sure. Though for the best paintjobs its a good idea to stick with the same company the whole way through Primer, paint and clearcoat.

Maaco is actually a pretty decent place to get a cheap paintjob. My fiancee used to own an '88 RX-7 and the clearcoat was peeling pretty bad.

We took it down to Maaco and for about $300 he had a new paintjob which turned out surprisingly damn nice for an econo-job.

SpeedRacer---yeah, is that maaco? the pix looks kinda indexed but the peeling is really obvious. how long 'til the paint started to come off.

as to the SC silvia, i thought it is pretty new approach to body paint. a flat black surface can have some interesting results if matched with simple high gloss body graphics...tht'll be cool.i'd do that

That is Maaco's finest, the previous owner didnt do his own prep work and this is the result. I guess it just adds to my sleeper car profile.

Hey all,

After you get your car painted, use our product "5 Star shine". You'll get the same results as other high end waxes but have a much better and longer finish protection. It will save you the time of having to re-apply wax to keep your paint protected.

Click on our ad on the left side near the top of this page and get the details. Be sure to use the customer discount code "vipdiscounts".-Chadhttp://www.5starshine.com'Never wax your car again"
