I changed my oil yesterday (2nd change) at 7200 miles. The first oil change was done by the dealership around 3500 miles. Well the oil was like water which is normal but then I get to the oil filter, and I see "Napa" on it. WTF! A Nissan dealership using Napa oil filters rather than a genuine Nissan oil filter??? Makes me wonder what kind of oil they used. So I put in the best oil for the car, Mobil1 full synthetic along with the Mobil1 oil filter. Fyi, for those who get their oil changed at the dealership..beware Sorry had to vent

Napa?.. Jeez. Sorry to hear that man. I've done my own oil change since I bought the car. Mobil1 Syn with Nissan filters. I have to change mine this weekend but since I've lowered the car, I 'm not quite sure how I'm going to do it. IF I were you D-Roll, I'd start doing your own changes form now on. just keep the receipts.

Yeah tell me about it. I always change the oil myself but I let the dealership do it the first time cuz I had a coupon Never again It's easy to change it with the car lowered bro. I even used the stock jack

wow, just had mine changed Friday at the Dealership and the first change.

Yep, guess what I am going to checkat lunch today, if they did not use the Nissan product I plan to raise some on the service manager.

The dealership is supposed to use only OEM...

In the manual it states, The filter is specially designed to allow oil remain in the filter; see below from the manual...

Genuine Nissan Oil FiltersGenuine Nissan Oil Filters are designed specificallyfor your vehicle.Genuine Nissan Oil Filters have an anti-drainbackvalve that keeps oil in the filter when the engineis not running. This prevents harmful enginewear on start-up

I here ya, I've been changing mine myself since I purchased also. I will not use the stock jack to change the oil though cus once it's lowered you crank that thing so high it will slip very easily IMO. (mine slipped once already so I'm going to buy a bigger jack)

I used to have a lightweight racing jack, but ended up giving it to the ex Eventually I will get another one. I've always used the Mobil1 oil filters on my 02 Nissan Specv.

I use Mobil1 full synthetic and a Wix filter on mine, I never changed the oil in my last car, because it was a cartridge type and not a spin-on, but I plan to change it in this one. I just get too good of a deal for oil changes not to take advantage.

WIX is a NAPA filter...Also stay away from Fram they have gone downhill and I have seen collapsed frams take out 2 motors(no oil pressure or bypass) get Mobil 1 at walmart, wix, napa gold or mobil one filters...Now me I spend $24.99 at the dealer with there coupons since this car is my beater (and a lease)

Actually fellas, by the accounts of some guys I know who work at some smaller repair shops, the Napa gold filter is up there among the better ones available. I have been using them on my vehicles for the better part of 8 years and have always been happy with the quality. Also, you can't argue with the price of those things. I agree with the Mobil 1 though. That's what I have always paired with the Napa gold filter. A solid combo, imho.
