Hey Everyone,

Does anyone have some suggestions on how to increase performance/power (HP/Torque) on a 2001 QX4 without breaking the bank?

How do air intakes work on this car, such as AEM and others?

intakes and exhaust wont give you what your looking for. if you have a really good mechanical knowlage then you could buy like a chevy small block for under a grand and install it your self or if you know a mechanic that would give you a deal. I'm looking into a vortec straight-6 300-HP but idk if i need double the horse power because the pathfinder transmission is no bigger than a honda civics' and it wouldn't be able to handle it.

There isn't much, unless you adapt a turbo/supercharger to it...but they're expensive, and, for all intensive purposes, will break the bank. Tmorgan4 installed an Infinity V8 in his...but he also is well versed in making chaos look like child's play (ie, solid axle swap)...Not going to "add" hp/torque, but to free up small lost amounts, CAI, exhaust, and underdrive pulleys will give you small gains. Nothing substantial. My best advice is get the cold air, and a larger exhaust system (not too large or you'll lose backpressure and torque will suffer), run good synthetic fuilds so everything is happy and be satisfied with the 3.5...remember, you could be driving a gutless wonder like the guys with the 3.3.

Hey, I resent that! and yet completely agree. The 3.3 is severely underpowered. Shoulda gone for the 2001

If you never do any offroading or live in the city, you could take your CV shafts/joints out which would be less friction on your weak engine. just a thought
