alight i have been bating this around for some time. within a year or so i am thinking of getting a vert of some kind. i am looking for something cheap and RWD, so that gets me to older miatas and the 240. now my only concern about the 240 is that of chassis flex.

now i am been in a convert tang and it was alight...but i am also been in a miata and i thought holy ****. now, how bad is the 240? i would be not roadracing it but i would like to take it through turns and what not.

maybe i will just hit up greg and test his car

A few inextpensiive mods will make a vert ALMOST as solid as a coupe.

You're welcome to drive mine, it's solid.

Most of the flex is in the cowl - Easily remedied by a triangulated strut tower brace.

CP Racing makes one, sometimes they have them on ebay, like $100.

Another thing you can do is the door conversion. Won't reduce flex, but they're lighter and reduce the "perception" of flex (less noisy).

Look for a HICAS rear sway bar, some good springs and struts, and some good wide rims / tires.

cowl shake seems to be the biggest complaint in these verts. I've never had that issue though.

The car is very solid from front to rear. I had the car on stands on day, and it was sitting off of one from where my floor was dipped a little. Crossways, it needs a little help. A triangular strut bar is the biggest help, with a close second being a rollbar (which would be added safety to put in anyways)

i wonder if these would be better than the CP strut bar.

only thing i don't like about the CP design is that when i slap a huge turbo on there it might inpeed on it.

btw plans for a vert is to make it a nice looking car...either Silvia front end or S15 front end. with at least 400rwhp.

I went out with my vert the other day to kick it sideways a little bit and after i while i looked up and the rubber piece lining above the windshield was cracked. Not sure if it was like that or if i did it but now it makes me want to get another cp racing strut bar asap.

if it's the piece i'm thinking it is (it's more solid than rubber and you can see it even when the top is up), it's designed with a slit in it. Plastic and rubber shrink and expand as temperature conditions change, so that piece was designed with that in mind by being a two part piece. After a while, it just shrinks a bit and looks like it's cracked.

I wish... there is a real slit over towards the middle but this is right where the driver visor is and it is a crack.

Hey Hitman,

I also have a vert as well as a coupe. I find the vert very loose in the front. Where can I gewt these triangular strut tower brackets? What does cp performance parts stand for or what is their web address? Do you think it will also help to install a strut tower bracket that extends over the engine from one tower to another?

Arke - The CP bar is sometimes available on ebay, search "240sx bar". I paid $100 shipped.

It not only ties the struts together, but also braces through the firewall.
