im not sure what makes a chasis "better". perhaps stiffness? anyway i was wondering if the s13 or s14 chasis was "better", and if so, in what way. thanks.

"Better" is such a subjective term. You'll most likely get a large variation of opinions and responses.

For example, from an auto industry POV, the S13 and S14 chassis, along with most other nissan chasis, are TERRIBLE...why? B/C they rust.

They could be lighter, stronger, more rigid than anything else in the game, but depending on the POV, anyone can tell you better or worse.

"Better" is what you are happy with. "Better" in other people's JDM-blinded zeal is a full 12 point roll cage, or a do-luck bar at the minimum, with CUSCO this and that with JIC and Blinga-bling-bling everything-thing...

To me, better is what you are happy with. If you are happy with a softer chasis which for weekend warriors is more livable as a daily driver, than softer is better, rigid is worse. If you log more track time than public road time, rigid is better, softer is worse.(BTW these are BROAD GENERALIZATIONS, not the if-and-be-all)[flamesuit on]

I agree with dr. evil. -=refrains from the use of the pinky finger to lip combo=-

as a daily driver that enjoys the mountain passes in my area, i love a stiff chassis. i'm starting the slow process of stiffening my chassis short of roll cages and ladder bars because i want something that's practical for the street.

On a whole, I've noticed that the majority of people who drive the S13/14 chassae (what the heck is that plural anyways??!) think it's a great starting point. The chassis is light, and sturdy and offers plenty of upgrade options. since the car is over 15 years old now, most aftermarket parts have reached a level of tweak that they take full advantage of what can be improved on the chassis.

if you're considering buying a 240, talk to some people that own one and see what they think. i was talking to a co-worker of mine that used to own a 240 vert like mine, and he absolutely loved it for it's ability to cling to the roads. there have been very few people i've met that disliked the 240 chassis

Amen to that.

Stock form if i remember correctly, S14 (97/98 >95/96) is stiffer than S13, S13 coupe is stiffer than fastback.

But the stiffness differences is very slight, and can be matched up with the help of front and rear strut bars, as well as suspension upgrades.

The rest comes down to personal preference. Spend the time to study each, interior/exterior, blah blah blah.

ive driven a 98 and my 92 coupe. there isnt really a whole lot of difference. a little aftermarket tweaking will change it so much more than choosing between models will.-Enzo
