does anyone have some info they can give me on that expanding foam stuff they use to stiffen up the chasis? some people discourage it b/c you wont be able to straighten out the chasis after an accident if you use this stuff. but i'm not concerned about that since i'll need a new chasis anyway if i get in another accident.

where can i get this stuff, how is it used and any general info on it would be greatly appreciated.

thanx,brian

I think splparts.com has some. It's under suspension > chassis bracing, and it's all the way at the bottom of the page. I think this is what you're talking about. I'm assuming that it fills up the empty space that would otherwise allow the chassis to flex. Hopefully Nismo_Freak will see this and he could probably help you out.

I've never seen anyone do it and I've heard that if water gets in there it has a more % of rusting.

It makes sense and in your case you probably could care less.

Does that even help that much. I wound assume it helps a little but can it even be felt?

Tap plastics.....It has been done to my racecar. Not sure the gains were all that...It will cause issues when you have to make repairs.

but if the frame is filled with foam, wouldn't that prevent moisture from settling within the framework? i want to know where you heard about that.

if you use POR-15 prior to filling, im sure it would keep most of the rust off.

what kind of issues do you mean? isnt the foam degradeable in case chassis repair is neccessary? what is the name of the foam?

foam = difficult to make degrade, very difficult to fill up the voids evenly, and if you get into a collision you're gonna have loose/cracked foam on the inside. you're better off with pipes.
