So my car was running goofy, it'd start at 12v then dip down to 7, and just before it died it would spike back to 12 and repeat the process.

I tried driving home last night and I saw it falling, and expected it to jump back up. Too bad it didn't. 50 miles towed back home.

I tested the alternator this morning after a jump, and it was putting out 13v at the terminals, except at the battery the voltage was falling!

I bought a new battery. SAME EXACT THING!

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE??? HELP ME!

I was told it might be the voltage regulator... does this sound like the problem?

EDIT: Ok I just changed the alternator.

NEW BatteryNEWish Alternator

Car runs perfectly until I turn it off. Then the voltage drops to 10, and it doesnt have enough juice to start back up again...

I'm getting parasitic drain here... -_-BUT maybe not because it doesnt fall down to zero?

check your connections on your battery terminals and at the other ends of the cables. perhaps the positive lead on the starter is loose? If it drops immediately like that I am thinking you have a connection problem somewhere. make sure your battery terminals are securely fastened to the battery as well.

Thanks.

I think it was the 100A fusable-link that was melted into my fuse box...

Any ideas on how this didn't blow the fuse?

EDIT: Cars dead this morning. Something must be drawing power from it when it's off... i'm gonna try pulling fuses again.

I have seen problem with the alarm system may have caused the drain and where is this 100Amp fusable link supporting, the ignition system I supposed? Did the starter and solenoid declutched after start up? Standard charging volt should be around 13.5 to 14.0 volts and what did the drive belt sound like at idle & rev @2K. If they squill then need adjustment when engine is cold. Good luck!
