Oh I have a 97 240sx I had a KA in the car with a 5 mth old alternator. I was driving one day with stereo loud when brake light and charge light came on. I did some tests and found out alternator was not getting full charge it was reading 13.75. I drove around on that alternator and engine for a few weeks because I knew i was getting a SR. Last week 98 s13 blacktop was installed drove home from shop alternator died replaced alternator but still wouldnt charge. What could be the problem here me and my mechanic are trying to figure it out. I was guessing it was incorrect wiring on the radio but im not sure.

have the new altenator tested new altenators being bad isnt all that uncommon but also check your leads at the altenator for power too. the big power lead should have battery voltage when key on engine off as well as one of the 2 wires in the connector. if either one of the 2 does not have power you need to check your fuses and wiring for the charge circuit.

What are the key parts of the charging system that may be the problem in this situation.

the entire electrical system is actually part of the charging system. Reason I say that is if even one compent is drawing more then 50 milliamps when the car is not running it can drain the battery. but your charging side would be batt cables , alt fuse/link but the main wire for charging the battery is the big one on the alternator. It goes directly to the battery. the other circuit is for the voltage regulator inside the alternator.

Problem solved got new issues now I have a 98 blacktop sr it was in my buddy's car and its now in mine it has upgraded turbo adn FMIC. Ok last nite and yesterday it ran perfectly but this morning when i started it idles like s***. Sounds like its not getting enough fuel it idles really low and sounds like its gonna cut off. I drove it and it feels like its bout to run out of gas tank is at 3/4. Im not sure if I didnt warm it up long enough. It seems like its not getting enough fuel or its flooded. Oh yea fuel system is stock.
