i recently went to buy an s14 with an sr20 in it.On the way home due to oil leaking on the alternator it died( im guessing) so i had it replaced, and the mechanic said he blew a fuse and had to replace it and when i got in another one blew( eliminating my tach, speedo and gauge cluster, and it would come back at about 30 mph)

about 90 miles after replacing alt, and drive belt the car died. i had somebody following me so i used his battery to start the car and when i unhooked it the car would cut off. is this a fuse or another alt problem?? what do you guys suggest to check first?

check your main alternator fuse or possible fusable link has going bad check continuity from possitive cable to back of alternator to see if you have voltage there if not then you have found your problem and can now fix it properly and dont take it back to the mechanic

thanks, found out what i think to be the problem!! the fuse that i blew however cannot be bought anymore... its a 75 amp fuse rfom a Japanese company so im guessing he switched the SR fuse block in the swap. fixed the short, seems to be charging fine just have to make/find a new fuse now

Thanks again!!
