i recently went to buy an s14 with an sr20 in it.On the way home due to oil leaking on the alternator it died( im guessing) so i had it replaced, and the mechanic said he blew a fuse and had to replace it and when i got in another one blew( eliminating my tach, speedo and gauge cluster, and it would come back at about 30 mph)

about 90 miles after replacing alt, and drive belt the car died. i had somebody following me so i used his battery to start the car and when i unhooked it the car would cut off. is this a fuse or another alt problem?? what do you guys suggest to check first?

First you need to charge the battery on a nice slow charge over night. If the car doesn't start in the morning then you have at the very least a bad battery. If the car does start then you need to use a multimeter to test the voltage at the battery while the car is running. If the alternator is working correctly, you should have at least 13.8 Volts when the car is running. If not, then the alternator is not functioning correctly, whether it be a loose belt, bad connection etc.

its not the battery, put a nice good battery in and it drained after about 90 miles. i can test the voltages but i think its an alt problem or short circuit/grounding issue. i keep blowing fuses.... also i cant find the fuses in any parts house that i need! guess its a dealer part huh?
