My 2009 Murano with the subject iPod interface will not charge my iPod Touch (2G), however it is otherwise functional. I brought this up when I was at the dealer for service today and they produced a Nissan Service Bulletin NTB09-003 dated January 9, 2009 which explains that the problem is due to a design change made by Apple. The following iPod models will not charge when connected via the interface cable:
iPhone 3GiPod Nano - 4th GenerationiPod Touch - 2nd Generation
The reason is that these models charge from a 5V source instead of a 12V source and different pins are used for charging in the dock connectors of these models. I assume that going forward, this will be the standard for all new iPod models.
I assumed this was the case because my daughter's 80GB iPod charges just fine.
So, anyone aware of any sort of adapter? There are cigarette lighter adapters that provide a standard USB connector for charging of these iPod models with their standard USB dock connector cables, but I am not aware of anything that will merge the two functions.
