On my 90 Q45 I just took the alternator out and had it checked while I was doing some other work around that area. Everything checked out fine, but now, upon re-installation, it is not charging. I'm trying to trace the problem and at least check the voltages or do some tests before I pull the alternator (and likely it will check out okay on the bench). One of the tests in the manual suggests checking the indicator bulb which is supposed to show when the charging cct is not functioning. So, I'm at a loss as to where the bulb is in the dash and how to get to it. I have a display which says "battery low" ...sometimes.?? I know if there is a bulb and it is out, that will likely be the problem. Otherwise, I could also use some help tracing the wiring so I can check some things with the car running, etc. I can't figure out how anyone could get to the rear of the alternator to check anything with the engine running. I can't even see the back of the alternator from any angle?? Any information would be GREATLY appreciated.
