posted this below in post response but is worth a post by itself. My mom while fetching gas for lawn cutting had it spill in the trunk. I tried everything including removing trunk pad and washing with all kinds of cleaners in the driveway with the hose but gas odor remained. After the trunk is shut and a little heat built up you could smell it in the car. I called the gasoline distributors to no help. I then remembered charcoal is used to filter water and other chemicals. I put some regular kingsford charcoal in bowls and put it in the trunk and shut it. In a few days all odor was gone. Can be used to eat any odor no matter how strong. Cheap and easy to get fuel smell out, and trust me that was a strong smell. May work for just musty odors in the car just put it in a open box or bowl and allow it to work. OH and to keep truck smelling fresh a dryer sheet under the seat every few weeks eats odors(minor ones) and leave a nice but not too strong a smell. Beats the high dollar car deodorizers that are usually too strong. Just a few smell good tips LOL

Thats a pretty good idea, I will remember that one.

Last year I removed the carpet and headliner from my truck because, for some reason other than myself, it stunk like B.O. every time the relative humidity was high. It still does stink a little bit, just from the visors; but not nearly like it was.
