Is the Charcoal Cannister needed? How should I remove it and or plug it? Also what is that line for that goes from the throttle body to the coldpipe?

The pipe from the throttle body to the cold pipe is for IAC I believe or some sensor. Its needed.

The Charcoal Cannister? Are you talking about the can ont he back of the sr block nearest the Turbo? If so that is the Stock Oil Catch can or the Oil Blow by Can. It catches oil that is pushed out of the valve cover. This is so crank pressure doesnt build up. You need that but you can go to an aftermarket one.

No The thing I'm talking about is mounted right around the air filter. It has a hard line from the fuel tank going to it. It's stock piece that is not attached to the block.

thats probably one of those emissions canisters. Id say see if you can get rid of it cause only thing you need for the fuel int he engine bay is line running through the filter and a return from the fuel rail.

It's the evaporative emissions canister (aka charcoal canister). It stores excess fuel vapor from the gas tank and the valve on top of it causes it to release the vapor during cruising into the engine.

Just remove it and plug the vacuum lines from the motor. The other lines need to be ran open and away from spark / exhaust.

its located on the back right of the motor if your looking at it from the front of the motor. It has a tube running from the valve cover to it. then the other side of the T goes to the intake hose.

Where does the bottom part of the charcoal canister plug into? I'm currently putting in the emissions stuff for smog (S13 blacktop) but i'm not quite which lines should be connected to the charcoal canister, especially the line on the bottom. FSM doesn't really help too much but i'm going through it.

Are the charcoal canisters for SRs and KAs different? Didnt find one in my clip to verify.

i'd keep it on.......you CAN put a breather on, but the pressure will build up in the crankcase and you will waer out your piston rings premautrely.

Aftermarket or "home-depot" oil catch will solve that...

Wouldn't that be the hardline that goes to the gas tank? Or is there another hardline down there? I'm referring to a hose that is connected to the bottom of the charcoal canister. I can't remember where it went before I swapped.

Top of charcoal canister has 3 nipples and one on the bottom of the canister. But for some reason other charcoal canisters i've seen dont have the bottom hose...

... What??

I have heater hose coming off the crank fitting, routing up to the valve cover T fitting, and a breather filter on the other side of that T. The only bad thing that happens is the oil vapors over a few months foul up the cotton filter element of the breather filter, but the cost per filter as opposed to loss of heat transfer efficiency due to oil buildup inside my intercooler is worth it.

If you capped off the crank/vc ventilation system THEN you'd cause harmful pressure to build up... these filters allow you to not have to rout the gasses back to the intake and prevent mess at the same time, hence the term "breather"

Thanks for the reply. I have looked over both KA and SR FSMs numerous times but they don't clearly state where each line goes, unless I overlooked them, but i'm pretty sure I did not. Plus, neither even mention the bottom fitting...which is what is confusing me so much.
