Actually, I believe it may lower your mpg just a little from the threads I read. Something w/ the carbon canister recycling the fuel vapors -> remove canister -> venting vapor to air -> lower mpg.

But back to the subject, yes, just block off the 2 or 3 vacuum lines w/ vacuum caps & maybe a couple clamps for safety. Then vent the metal line that is connected to the bottom of the can - you may want to put a "breather filter" like I am doing on it so that nothing accidently falls into that tube.

I removed mine with no issues... It's only been a day but it seems to run fine minus the low idle I need to adjust)

No, a charcoal canister is not necessary but you will lose some mpg.

You will have pressure build up in the tank though.(Every time you open the gas cap you'll hear a "woosh" and smell gas vapor)

If the tube is open to the atmosphere with a filter on it, how can pressure build up in the tank?

However, I wouldn't want fuel vapors randomly building up in my engine compartment, near the exhaust side, regardless of open flame probability.

Normally you would simply plug/cap off the lines to avoid the possibility of fuel vapors building up in the engine compartment and being greeted by some form of ignition.

Since the lines are capped, the fuel vapor will build up some pressure in the tank.
