I went to my local auto supplies shop and asked how much trany oil I would need for my 1990 S13 chasis and they told me that I would need 8.77 quarts but looking at everyone elses they seem to only need 2.5 quarts.

So I was just wondering how much I really do need.

Please help me!

2.5 quarts of redline mt-90 is awesome.

It's only 8.77 quarts if you have the ungoverned 5000 hp 6 speed jdm transmission.

I could be mistaken, but i believe the automatic transmission takes automatic transmission fluid, not gear oil.

I got a 95 240sx 5spd, manny transmission . I should use Redline MT-90 2.55 quarts of it right? Not 8-9 quarts

ATF is awesome to keep around the garage. Its good for cleaning without seal damage. I soak my gear wrenches in ATF when they start to feel crappy. Some people take apart air tools and soak them in ATF before cleaning as well.

It also works well on vacuum petcocks

because amsoil is harder to find. they are only sold locally to authorized dealers & there is no one in my area. i think you can order amsoil through summit. but my buddy gave me 3 qts of redline mt-90, so i used it. my car shifts fine, no worries at all.

It wasn't easy for me to find Redline either. One racing shop in my area was selling it and that was about it.

yup thats how it is in most places. in my area there are only 2 shops in a 40mi radius that sells redline, & my friend owns one of the shops . & my trans is stock & has 206k on it, other than not being able to rev match into 1st, my trans operates perfectly.
